تعتبر رعاية المسنين من المشکلات العامة التي تشغل معظم الدول سواء النامية والمتقدمة علي حد سواء، وقد يرجع ذلک إلي الزيادة الهائلة في أعداد المسنين في العالم.
فقد تشير الإحصاءات أن المسنين اللذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 80 عام فأکثر يمثلون 4% من سکان أوربا، وتنخفض هذه النسبة نسبيا کلما اتجهنا إلي دول العالم النامي؛ حيث تصل النسبة حوالي 1.4 % تقريبا، کما تشير الإحصاءات أن نسبة النساء تشکل أغلبية المسنين؛ لأن العمر المتوقع للمرأة أکبر من العمر المتوقع للرجل.
      فالمسنون فئة لا يمکن إنکارها في مجتمعنا المعاصر الذي أصبح فيه للشيخوخة – أکثر من ذي قبل- وجود ملحوظ، نتيجة ارتفاع نسبة الکبار البالغين من العمر ستون سنة فأکثر قياسا إلي العدد الإجمالي للسکان. ولا شک أن ارتفاع معدلات العمر قد شهد تطورا ملحوظا نتيجة التقدم في مجال الطب ومقاومة الأمراض وانتشار أساليب الوقاية الصحية وغيرها.
لهذا فقد أصبحت مختلف المجتمعات تواجه ما يعرف بمشکلة المسنين کمشکلة اجتماعية؛ حيث ذاد العدد المطلق للمسنين في کل مجتمع الأمر الذي يجب معه أن تتغير النظرة المستقبلية للمسنين بمزيد من العناية بهم وتقديم مختلف الخدمات لهم من قبل المجتمع
 
 
 
The needs of the elderly in clubs and care homes in Egypt
The care of the elderly is one of the general problems that concern most countries, whether developing and developed alike, and this may be due to the huge increase in the numbers of elderly people in the world.
Statistics indicate that the elderly aged 80 years and over represent 4% of the population of Europe, and this percentage decreases relatively as we go to the countries of the developing world; The ratio is approximately 1.4%, and statistics indicate that the proportion of women is the majority of the elderly; Because the life expectancy of a woman is greater than the life expectancy of a man.
The elderly are an undeniable group in our contemporary society in which aging - more than before - has become a marked presence, as a result of the high proportion of adults aged sixty and over compared to the total population. There is no doubt that the high rates of life have witnessed a remarkable development as a result of advances in the field of medicine and disease resistance and the spread of health protection methods and others.
Therefore, various societies have come to face what is known as the elderly problem as a social problem. As the absolute number of elderly people in each society has increased, which must change the future view of the elderly with more care for them and the provision of various services to them by the community.
